Hello. Welcome to Kate Communicates.

There is undeniable power in good story-telling. Stories informed, moved and motivated long before humans chiseled the first words into stone. Today, stories still serve as a corner post in society. Anecdotes build connections. Stories should be shared, which makes creative content a powerful tool for your brand and business.

Kate Communicates provides its clients story-telling with stopping power. Let me help your business use creativity to build unique connections with clients, consumers, stakeholders, followers and readers.

Every brand has a story. Every great article needs an anecdote. Every design evokes emotion. Let me help shape your business’ story.

Simply put, working with Katie is a seamless process. From the moment Katie and I discuss a project, I know that it is not only off my to-do list but the finished product will be far better than I ever imagined. I can give Katie a little idea and she uses her skill set, industry knowledge, creativity and work ethic to craft an eloquent and engaging piece of work. I always look forward to calling Katie, brainstorming and having her expertise elevate the editorial content of the National Swine Registryโ€™s Seedstock EDGE magazine.

Cassie Godwin, National Swine Registry

“Katie has a singular talent to author well crafted, interesting, informative and concise stories that run the gamut of topics from human interest, to livestock, to technical stories and everything in-between. Working with Katie on Seedstock EDGE magazine showed myself and everyone who read it, just what a talent Katie is.

Kate Communicates has been a valuable resource for Missouri Wines. Initially we contracted her services to develop a brochure. The project required a quick turnaround to meet production deadlines. She ran with the assignment and sent a proof earlier than expected. Now we utilize her skills for a wide variety of projects throughout the year.

Meet Kate

Hello, I’m Katie.

I grew up on a cattle farm in small-town Missouri, surrounded by my family. At a young age, I realized my love for art, agriculture and a good story. My first “byline” came at 5-years-old when I published the article “Snake Thief” in the Maupin Monthly. It was a riveting crime yarn of a giant black snake and four ill-fated banty chicks. As the publisher and editor, I ran it on the front page. These passions would mold my career. I graduated from Mizzou with an agricultural journalism degree, and a week later, I was in West Lafayette, Indiana, as part of the National Swine Registry’s Marketing and Communications team. Throughout my decade-long career, I have edited magazines, designed advertisements and even worked for the Extension. But regardless of my title, I’m always found at the intersection of art and agriculture. Five years ago, I married a farmer. He came with roots – literally and figuratively. Today, we live on a farm in Lebanon, Indiana. Most evenings, I enjoy a glass of wine, after spending time in the barn with our Heeler puppies and my herd of ponies.

SOME OF MY FAVORITE THINGS
  • Spending time with family
  • Good wine and a good book
  • Catching up with friends
  • Working in the barn, brushing show calves or ponies
  • Creating in any fashion
  • Laughing
